Terre del Lagorai

Nestled in the majestic Dolomites of Trentino, the Terre del Lagorai winery is dedicated to enhancing the oenological identity of eastern Trentino. The name of the winery derives from the Lagorai chain, a vast mountain range that overlooks numerous valleys such as Valsugana, Val di Fiemme and Val di Cembra. The winery is located in Castel Ivano, on the eastern side of Valsugana, an area that is particularly suitable for sparkling wine production. Here, in 2016, a group of 8 winemakers, represented by Germana Borgogno, Davide Capra, Stefano Dalledonne, Ezio Dandrea, Mauro Franzoni, Flavio Sandri, Carlo Staudacher and Matteo Trentinaglia, decided to join forces to enhance the fruits of their labour and the essence of their beloved territory. The wine cellars are housed within the walls of Castel Ivano, a 12th century building that stands on the promontory of Monte Lefre.

The Terre del Lagorai winery processes the noble Burgundian varieties Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, which are best suited to the production of high-quality sparkling wines, as well as the genetic hybrid Kerner and the PIWI Solaris grape, obtained through advanced selections to obtain varieties that are resistant to the main vine diseases, which in turn has a positive impact on the environment. The vineyards are located at altitudes between 300 and 700 metres above sea level and benefit from the excellent south-west exposure and the strong temperature fluctuations between day and night that are characteristic of the area. Depending on the oenological objective, both stainless steel tanks and wooden barrels are used as containers for the vinification and ageing of the wines, always striving for the final harmony of the wine. The sparkling wines are produced according to the Metodo Classico, whereby the re-fermentation in the bottle is often accompanied by a long ageing on the lees, which can even last 5 years.

Whether still wine or sparkling wine, the latter being the flagship of production, Terre del Lagorai's labels are characterised by their balance and finesse, qualities that well represent the character of Valsugana.
