SHOCHU YAMADAICHI MURASAKI - 72CL DESCRIPTION

Shochu Yamadaichi Murasaki produced by the Ooyama Jinhichi Shoten distillery is a handcrafted shochu of exquisite intensity and organoleptic richness, produced within the Kagoshima Prefecture from the distillery's well-established tradition. In fact, for 150 years, Ooyama Jinhichi Shoten has been dedicated to the production of artisanal shochu, a traditional Japanese liqueur from the island of Kyushu, where the distillery operates. In general, the raw material used to make shochu is very varied, ranging from rice to barley and various types of potato. Today, Ooyama Jinhichi Shoten is one of the most important shochu distilleries in Kagoshima Prefecture, thanks in part to its ability to combine traditional practices with a modern, forward-looking vision..

Ooyama Jinhichi Shoten Schochu Murasaki Yamadaichi is made from purple potatoes of the Eimurasaki variety grown in the warm climate of Kagoshima Prefecture. This variety of purple potato is characterised by its high content of simple sugars and lower starch content, which aids the fermentation process. Once fermentation is complete, the shochu is distilled and then subjected to a prolonged ageing process of around 6 years. The final bottling takes place without any dilution, with an alcohol content of 34% by volume.

In the glass, Ooyama Jinhichi Shoten's Shochu Yamadachi Murasaki reveals a transparent and consistent appearance. On the nose there are intense hints of ripe fruit, flowers and roasted potato, while on the palate it is round and enveloping, with a characteristic umami note accompanying the lingering finish.
