Pinot Noir '777' is the Deltetto family's homage to the famous French grape variety. This red bears the name of a famous clone cultivated in Burgundy but imported and grown on the marls of the Roero. It is a red of great elegance, produced with a long submerged cap maceration of thirty days and eighteen months of ageing in wood. Delicate aromas of currants and raspberries open the scene to hints of vanilla and memories of undergrowth. Fresh and very drinkable, it is excellent with both meat and fish dishes, but must be tried with the traditional Plin with butter and sage
With its fresh and refined style, the Pinot Noir '777' from the Deltetto winery faithfully reflects the qualities of this noble black berry grape variety of Burgundian origin so beloved by the Deltetto family. The appellation '777' pays tribute to the French Pinot Noir clone of the same name, belonging to the so-called 'Dijon' clonal group, which is widespread throughout the world thanks to the particular quality characteristics it is capable of imparting to wines. In general, clone 777 has particularly small bunches and berries, a factor behind the greater concentration that distinguishes its wines from other Pinot Noir clones, which are also endowed with great longevity.
Pinot Noir Deltetto '777' is made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes grown in a vineyard located on the San Michele hill, in the heart of the Roero, a few steps from the winery. The vines stand on marl-rich soils and are grown in accordance with the principles of organic farming, certified since 2017. After harvesting, the grapes are vinified in red by means of alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks with submerged cap maceration on the skins for about 30 days. This is followed by ageing for about 18 months in barriques and oak barrels and then a further rest in the bottle before final release.
Deltetto's Pinot Noir '777' is bright and subtle ruby red in colour. The nose is described by fine hints of currant, raspberry and undergrowth, enhanced by fascinating hints of vanilla and caramel. The taste reveals great freshness and intensity, with a vertical and drinkable progression that is enriched by an elegant tannic texture and a pleasant savoury structure. In the closing, the seductive sensations of red fruits and spices previously perceived on the nose reappear.
