'Macchiusanelle' De Beaumont 2021

De Beaumont Fabio's 'Macchiusanelle' is a precious Campania red, made from Barbera vines, a true enclave of this variety in Campania. It is, however, a wine that recounts the depth of the volcanic terroir of Castelvetere sul Calore, with great sapidity and fruit. On the nose rich scents of morello cherry and violets, balsamic finish of eucalyptus and toasted hints. The palate reveals itself to be agile and decisive, with important tannin but extreme freshness

'MACCHIUSANELLE' DE BEAUMONT 2021 DESCRIPTION

The 'Macchiusanelle' of Campania winemaker Fabio de Beaumont is a unique and sought-after wine, produced from a single vineyard of pre-Flower Barbera. In fact, Fabio dedicates himself with commitment and passion to the cultivation of a small, very old vineyard, planted more than 150 years ago with Barbera, a grape variety brought to Irpinia directly from Piedmont by an ancestor of the winemaker. The training system is that of the pergola avellinese, a form that develops the plant upwards, with an average height of about 2 metres, allowing the vines and grapes to be protected from humidity and spring frosts.

Fabio de Beaumont's 'Macchiusanelle' is a 100% Barbera from vines over 150 years old cultivated on a free-range basis under a certified organic system. The vines, raised using the Avellino pergola system, rest on clayey-calcareous soils of volcanic origin, located at an altitude of up to 700 metres above sea level with southern and south-eastern exposure. Harvesting is carried out by hand and the grapes are then vinified in red with spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, combined with about 2 weeks of maceration on the skins without temperature control. The subsequent maturation phase, which lasts 12 months, also takes place in steel containers, with the wine then left to rest for a further 18 months until final release.

In the glass, Fabio de Beaumont's Barbera 'Macchiusanelle' shows an impenetrable ruby red colour. The nose has intense and rich aromas of morello cherry and violets, with fresh balsamic notes of eucalyptus emerging at the close. The warmth and roundness on the palate are well balanced by the good freshness and tannin of important presence that does not preclude the agility of the sip.
