Lambrusco Foglia Frastagliata 'PerCiso' I Dolomitici is a unique and original still red wine, the result of the passionate work of a winery that is dedicated to its terroir. The Ciso vineyard is a true pearl of Trentino viticulture, which for more than a century has been home to 727 plants of Lambrusco Foglia Frastagliata, also known as "Zicolada" or "'Mbrosca," all of which are free-range vines. Fresh and fruity, the nose reveals evolved notes, but also great energy that manifests itself on the palate with a distinct freshness and pleasant juiciness. Ideal paired with pork dishes.
The Lambrusco a Foglia Frastagliata 'PerCiso' is the fruit of the I Dolomitici project, created with the intention of enhancing this forgotten grape variety and, more generally, the traditional image of Trentino wine-growing. This project is the result of the commitment of a group of 10 artisanal winegrowers, united in their intent to preserve and enhance a pre-phylloxera vineyard of Foglia Frastagliata Lambrusco. This black berry variety, indigenous to Trentino, owes its name to the characteristic appearance of its leaf, which is particularly serrated and irregular. For a long time, Lambrusco a Foglia Frastagliata was widely cultivated in the region, particularly in the lower Val Lagarina, only to be partly forgotten in favour of more popular varieties. The variety, already praised by Pliny The Elder, is also known by the name 'Enantio'. As for the label's appellation, this represents a dedication to Narciso, known as 'Ciso', a farmer who for decades took care of the ancient vineyard from which the grapes come..
The 'PerCiso' I Dolomitici Lambrusco a Foglia Frastagliata is made exclusively from grapes of the Trentino vine of the same name from a single, 0.4-hectare vineyard, cultivated using the double pergola system on alluvial soil. After manual harvesting, the grapes are mellowed in open vats, containers in which spontaneous alcoholic fermentation takes place in contact with the skins. This is followed by ageing for about 15 months in oak barrels until final bottling.
I Dolomitici's 'PerCiso' Lambrusco a Foglia Frastagliata has a dark, luminous ruby red colour. On the nose, inviting sensations of red fruits such as cherry and jammy strawberries are accompanied by pleasant rustic and herbaceous tones reminiscent of bay leaves and green pepper. Fresh, lively and free-range on the palate, with good structure and energy, characterised by an intense and characterful finish.
