CHIANTI 'UOMO VITRUVIANO' LEONARDO DA VINCI 2022 DESCRIPTION

The Chianti 'Uomo Vitruviano' from the Leonardo Da Vinci cooperative winery is afresh and dynamic Chianti interpretation. This label is intended to celebrate one of the world's best-known wine-growing areas, whose wines, exported to every corner of the globe, have become synonymous with Tuscan character.

Leonardo Da Vinci 'Uomo Vitruviano' Chianti consists of a blend of Sangiovese (85%), Merlot (10%) and other black grapes grown in the hilly areas of Vinci and neighbouring municipalities in the province of Florence. In particular, the vines rest on soils of alluvial origin rich in marine shell fossils dating back to the Pliocene era, located at an altitude of between 40 and 130 metres above sea level with various exposures, predominantly to the south. Harvesting takes place between the months of September and October and is followed by red vinification of the grapes, with alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks combined with approximately 8 days of maceration on the skins. Subsequent ageing lasts a few months and takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks.

On visual examination, the Chianti Leonardo Da Vinci 'Uomo Vitruviano' expresses a ruby red colour with deep purple reflections. The nose is intense in its fruity sensations of cherry, black cherry and black pepper that blend with pleasant notes of woody spices and black pepper. The taste is well balanced and well-structured, with an excellent freshness that gives fluidity to the progression accompanied by a fine tannic texture. The winemaker's recommendation is to pair this Chianti with hors d'oeuvres of cold meats and cheeses, pizza, first courses with light meat sauces or white meat main courses.
