Sauvignon 'Kofl' Kurtatsch 2023

The Sauvignon 'Kofl' of Kurtatsch an impulsive, intense wine with backbone The name 'Kofl', which in the Alpine linguistic area designates a rounded peak, recalls the steepness of the slopes, which are primarily responsible for the wine's character. Notes of exotic fruits, gooseberries and kiwi fruit recall the varietal traits of Sauvignon, to which are added hints of minerals and field grasses, typical of the mountain terroir. SAUVIGNON 'KOFL' KURTATSCH 2023 DESCRIPTION

Sauvignon "Kofl" is a bottle with an exotic dimension, produced by the South Tyrolean co-operative Kurtatsch. This white wine belongs to the "Terroir" line, the winery's top selection, which is produced exclusively in the best vintages from grapes from highly qualified vineyards that are cultivated with low yields and are closely linked to the territory. The name "Kofl" derives from the eponymous name for a round tip, from which the name of the Penon-Kofl vineyard in the hamlet of Penone is also derived.

The South Tyrolean Sauvignon "Kofl" from the Kurtatsch winery is produced from pure Sauvignon Blanc grapes from the Penon-Kofl parcel, which is characterised by a very steep slope, an altitude of between 450 and 600 metres above sea level and an east-facing orientation. The microclimate is also characterised by strong temperature fluctuations between day and night, while the soils, which consist of sand and gravel, are rich in dolomite and quartz. In the wine cellar, the grapes are vinified with minimal maceration on the skins, combined with alcoholic fermentation of the must in stainless steel tanks and in large oak barrels at a controlled temperature. Once fermentation is complete, the wine matures for 12 months on the fine lees in cement vats.

The South Tyrolean Sauvignon "Kofl" from the Kurtatsch winery has a golden yellow colour with amber reflections. The bouquet shows intense notes of passion fruit, followed by herbaceous hints of sage and hints of gooseberry, kiwi and elderflower. The flavour is complex, broad and round, with beautiful freshness and pronounced aromas and a pleasant salty and mineral finish.
