Sauvignon Kurtatsch 2024

Kurtatsch's Sauvignon comes from the sunny slopes of Kurtatsch, where evening winds caress the grapes. The deep, limestone-dolomitic soils are responsible for the intense and structured profile. On the nose, fresh hints of mountain flowers open the scene to fragrant hints of gooseberries and exotic fruits. The palate is fresh and juicy, with a lively freshness and a salty note that makes it an ideal companion for fish dishes

SAUVIGNON KURTATSCH 2024 DESCRIPTION

The Sauvignon by Kurtatsch winery in South Tyrol is a fresh, mineral wine characterised by the calcareous soils and the breezy microclimate of the steep slopes of Cortaccia, the winery's vineyard. Sauvignon Blanc, which arrived in South Tyrol at the end of the 19th century, found the ideal conditions to develop its qualities in this cool but sunny Alpine region. Today, around 9% of South Tyrol's total vineyard area is dedicated to this international grape variety, and its popularity has increased significantly in recent decades, from a total of 82 hectares in 1998 to around 500 hectares today.

The Sauvignon from the Kurtatsch winery is a 100% Sauvignon Blanc from sustainably cultivated vines on deep , calcareous and dolomite-rich sand and gravel soils at an altitude of 450 to 600 metres above sea level and with an east-facing orientation. The grapes are vinified through a short maceration before fermentation and subsequent alcoholic fermentation of the must in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Maturation always takes place in stainless steel on the fine lees for several months.

Kurtatsch's Sauvignon has an intense golden yellow colour. Intense and typical aromas of gooseberries and exotic fruits such as passion fruit describe the olfactory texture together with clear hints of elderflower and mineral nuances. On the palate, it is balanced and very fresh, with a very juicy finish that lingers in a savoury and subtly mineral finish. This white wine expresses the typical characteristics of South Tyrolean Sauvignon, which is why it can be served with local, fresh or slightly matured cheeses.
