WHITE 'SAROTO' ARRIBAS WINE COMPANY 2023 DESCRIPTION

Through its Mediterranean yet Atlantic essence, Arribas Wine Company's White 'Saroto' faithfully reflects the oenological character of the Trás-os-Montes area. In this mountainous area, the winemaking tradition dates back to pre-Roman times, although it was the Romans who spread the vineyards extensively, convinced of the territory's potential. One of the factors behind the area's vocation is the climate, determined by Atlantic and Mediterranean influences.

Arribas Wine Company 'Saroto' White comes from a blend of traditional white varieties from the Douro area, including Verdelho, Malvasia, Posto Branco and Bastardo Branco. The grapes come from vines over 50 years old, grown at an altitude of between 600 and 700 metres on soils consisting of decomposed granite, quartz and clay. Manual harvesting is followed by foot-pressing of the whole bunches, with the mass undergoing spontaneous alcoholic fermentation accompanied by 4 days of contact between the must and the skins. At this point, the liquid is racked into used French and Caucasian oak casks, where the fermentation process is completed and the malolactic fermentation also takes place, without any temperature control. In the same casks the wine matures on the fine lees for about 7 months and is finally bottled without undergoing any invasive clarification or filtration.

Arribas Wine Company's White 'Saroto' has a beautiful golden yellow colour. The nose offers fascinating hints of macerated lemon peel, Mediterranean scrub and dried flowers, combined with evocative iodine mineral hints. In the mouth it is round but at the same time nervous thanks to the decisive fresh-sappy verve that together with the light tannin describes a pleasant and drinkable development.
