Rungg' is a mountain red wine from South Tyrol made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The aromatic array of small red fruits and forest spices and the rich, savoury and intense taste make it a perfect companion for mature cheeses and meat stews
The Rungg is a red wine with an international flavour, which, however, expresses a typically territorial profile while retaining the elegant freshness typical of South Tyrolean wines. The Tramin Winery brings together around 300 winegrowers, who work with great passion and expertise to create excellent South Tyrolean wines. Thus the famous Tramin labels are born, with the desire to give voice to a land of ancient traditions and considerable potential. Rungg is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, three Bordeaux grape varieties that have been well acclimatised for centuries in the warmer areas of the Bassa Atesina.
Rungg originates from vineyards cultivated on the sunny hills south of the village of Tramin, at an altitude of approximately 300 metres above sea level, on gravelly, clay-rich soils. After manual harvesting of the grapes, at the peak of ripeness of each variety, fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature of 26 °C, with frequent pumping over. Both French barriques and large oak casks are used to mature the wines. After blending, the wine is bottled and ends its maturation with a few months in the cellar before being put on sale.
The Rungg of Tramin is a Bordeaux-style blend, which, thanks to a moderate and non-invasive use of wood, maintains the pleasant fragrance of the fruit, which always prevails over the tertiary notes of refinement. It is perfect for those who love complexity without renouncing the primary aromas of the grape, for those who prefer full-bodied but flowing and easy-drinking reds. In the glass it has a brilliant ruby colour. The aromas are pleasantly fresh, geared towards enhancing above all the fruity and vinous notes. The sip is lively, savoury and juicy, crisp and fresh. A bottle suitable for rich and tasty first courses, roasts or small game.
