ROERO RISERVA 'RONCAGLIA' DELTETTO 2019 DESCRIPTION

The Roero Riserva 'Roncaglia' from the Piedmontese Deltetto winery represents a structured and elegant interpretation of the Roero territory, dedicated to the 'Etichette d'artista' project. This project stems from the Deltetto family's desire to be active in the social and cultural sphere as well, tackling with each vintage themes of great relevance with the collaboration of artists from all over the world. As far as the Roncaglia cru is concerned, it is an Additional Geographical Mention within the municipal territory of Canale, home of the Deltetto estate, on the border with the municipality of Castellinaldo.

Deltetto Roero 'Roncaglia' Riserva originates solely from Nebbiolo grapes grown within the Roncaglia MGA on clay-rich soils. Agronomic management is based on the principles of certified organic agriculture and the harvest is carried out entirely by hand, respecting the ripening time of the grapes. In the cellar, red vinification is carried out with a portion of whole, unstemmed grapes, combined with prolonged maceration on the skins in stainless steel tanks. This is followed by a long ageing period of 24 months in second-passage barriques and then a further year of maturation in cement vats. The final release takes place no earlier than a further 12 months in bottle.

Deltetto's Roero 'Roncaglia' Riserva is ruby red in colour with a garnet edge. Ample sensations of red fruits, rose petals and liquorice tell the articulate olfactory story together with complex hints of undergrowth and clove. The sip reveals important but well-integrated tannins, as well as an excellent balance between concentration and freshness, with a very long finish that invites pairing with dishes of a certain structure.
