Pinot Noir 'Glen' Riserva Kurtatsch 2022

Kurtatsch's Pinot Noir Reserve 'Glen' is a refined and elegant wine, cultivated on cool mountain slopes to bring out the aromas and not overdo the structure, resulting in an elegant red wine. The nose has aromas of red fruits, violets and pleasant hints of sweet spices. The sip is velvety, juicy and fresh but also full-bodied, with a structure that makes it a perfect accompaniment to intense venison dishes and typical cheeses such as Graukäse

PINOT NOIR 'GLEN' RISERVA KURTATSCH 2022 DESCRIPTION

Through its refined and profound personality, Kurtatsch's Pinot Noir Reserve 'Glen' traces the typical qualities of the great Pinot Noirs of South Tyrol. The grapes for this Reserve come from the municipality of Montagna on the Wine Road, in particular from the Glen vineyard, located just above the Mazon vineyards. The Glen vineyard is considered the best suited for growing Pinot Noir in South Tyrol along with Mazon itself, thanks to a combination of the cool, sunny climate, the significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, the high altitude and the steep slopes on which the vineyards lie.

Kurtatsch Pinot Noir 'Glen' Reserve is a 100 per cent Pinot Noir from vines cultivated between 450 and 700 metres above sea level using environmentally sustainable practices. The vines then benefit from the sandy-loam matrix of the soil, which is also rich in clay minerals and oxides, as well as the excellent south-westerly exposure and steep slope that characterises the vineyards. Following the harvest, the grapes undergo a cold maceration lasting about 3 days before spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation is carried out completely and the mass is then placed to age for 12 months in barriques until final bottling.

In the glass, the Pinot Noir 'Glen' Reserve from Kurtatsch reveals an intense ruby red colour. The olfactory panorama is described by fresh notes of red fruits such as raspberry and wild cherry, adorned with hints of mountain herbs, sweet floral nuances of mallow and spicy and toasty hints from the passage in wood. In the mouth, it is velvety and juicy, with a very long persistence that evokes suave and delicate, almost sweet sensations.
